Strat PaaS

(Strategy Partner as a Service)

What's the value of the right decision at the right time? Our strategy practice is about having an independent, honest, and experienced partner at the table, right when you need it most.

In addition to a broad selection of strategy support services, we've designed a strategy partnership process - Strat PaaS - that is impactful, streamlined, and affordable.

Executive Leader Alone Decision Making
“Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.” - Sun Tzu

Why?

It is lonely at the top. That's not just an emotional burden, but a challenge to effective decision making. Yet, finding the right thought partner has many barriers: co-founders, other executives, and board members have complex vested relationships; other employees have scope, information sharing, and privacy limitations; outside advisors and investors are not always informed enough to provide a useful contribution. Having an independent, honest, and experienced advisor will not only transform your confidence in making the right decision, but ensure that you've done what's necessary to get it right.

Ways to Engage

Strat PaaS™

The Strat PaaS process is a recurring quarterly engagement. The scope can vary within each 3 month period, but the value is realized through regular communication that leads to informed support when it matters most.

By Project

Many strategic issues can structured as projects: senior leadership and strategic planning retreats, facilitating key conversations, pivots, mergers, founder transitions, etc. We can define scope and milestones, then get to work.

Moments that Matter

(AKA: Phone a Friend) Sure, it would be nice to have planned ahead for everything. But, there are moments when you need support NOW, whether you're ready or not. A strategy partner can help in sorting through moments of complexity to make clearer what must be done. Sometimes, just the right questions can bring a new sense of clarity and insight, right when you need it most.

Custom

If your business needs a more custom solution, we can find a path that suits your needs.

Strat PaaS™ Process

We start with a cohesion call, exploring the business dynamics in the full context of the people and conditions behind them. If there's a fit, we'll begin the three step process outlined below: building context, designing for outcomes, and holding operating check-up calls. Most engagements are in 3 month terms, with varying frequency depending on your needs. I can engage with just the founder or owner or become an advisor for an entire leadership team.

01

Build Context

We understand the importance of adding value quickly, which means there's some heavily lifting up front. Typically, we will meet with you or designated members of your team for 1 on 1 conversations and perform a key systems, processes, and document review related to your business and/or the issues at hand.

02

Design for Outcomes

While much of the value of the Strat PaaS model is in being available for emergent issues, we will also design for strategic outcomes that we identify up front and work toward over the arc of the engagement. We will reference these regularly and ensure that consistent progress is made toward these goals and outcomes.

03

Operating Check-ups

Having regular engagement is critical. We will set a cadence of bi-weekly or monthly calls to maintain a current pulse on the business, to address emergent issues, and to make progress toward our outcomes. Additionally, we know you don't always control the timeline, so we're available for support on short notice for the moments that matter the most.
